Founder's Compass: Week 7
Hello there and welcome to Founder's Compass, a good way to get oriented around the labyrinthian world of startups.
Tool of the week
In our rush to get all of the information, all at once, we overlook how it's being fed to us. Here, a website that collects and showcases all of the dark patterns.
A dark pattern (also known as a "deceptive design pattern") is a user interface that has been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things, such as buying overpriced insurance with their purchase or signing up for recurring bills.
Video of the week
It's November, so you know what time it is: Black Friday. You're probably bombarded with offers, deals and all sorts of opportunities.
Why are is Black Friday so effective though? Find out in this video from Growth Tribe, an amazing growth marketing organization from The Netherlands.
Startup Idea of the week
Projection-mapped construction guidelines. ๐
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐บ:
Matching the arhitectural project to the reality of the field is not an easy task. A small screw-up could cost thousands if not tens of thousands to fix.
๐ง๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐:
Construction firms. ๐จ
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป:
Using projection-mapping (the same technology behind the famous iMapp Festival in Bucharest), you could outline the final intended design, with each element in "virtually" put into place. This would be way more reliable than VR/AR tech since it would be real, on-site.
๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐:
โ Accurately place the interior design/exterior details in the exact right spot.
โ Reliably verify the project on paper versus on-site.
โ Significantly cheaper than plugging everything into VR.
๐๐ต๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐:
โ Tech (commercial projectors wouldn't work for this application)
โ Value/Cost Ratio (a cost analysis is required to see if this is worth it compared other methods)
โ Scale (How would this be scaled as a startup? For now it looks more like a service company than a product company)
What would you do differently to get this startup off the ground? Do you think this would work? Let's talk in the comments ๐ค
