Founder's Compass: Week 5
Hello there and welcome to Founder's Compass, a good way to get oriented around the labyrinthian world of startups.
Tool of the week
A must have for anyone building a SaaS company, Mixpanel enables you to create better analytics and track every move of your users anonymously.
Get much better data from your product and make decisions based on that, you'll thank yourself later :)
Video of the week
Keeping into the design line from last week, I'd like to introduce you to one of the best youtubers in the design space that you can learn from, Satori Graphics.
If you're a begineer designer or even a senior one, take a look at his huge portofolio of video (play them at 1.5x so you save some time) and learn something new.
Startup Idea of the week
Gamer-behaviour analytics ๐ฎ
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐บ:
After a while, a game becomes easy/boring. You know how to fight the bosses, defeat the bad guys and overcome any challenge. The game doesn't adapt to your skill level anymore (this is particular to single-player games).
๐ง๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐:
Game developers and studios
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป:
An analytics API that could integrate easily into games and track gamer behaviour. Are they more of a risk-taker or a safe-player? Mage or Warrior class? The game then adapts to their playstyle. Rogue-likes (Diablo, Hades) and the incredible Shadow of Mordor have similar systems in place. This is not a new idea by any means, but packaging it as an API/developer tool and making it easy-to-integrate would certainly make a difference and save countless development hours.
๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐:
โ For gamers, better replayability.
โ For studios, better understanding of their audience play-styles, extend the lifetime of their products and subsequently increase monetizability.
โ Much quicker to develop and integrate than coding it from scratch into the game.
๐๐ต๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐:
โ GDPR and Privacy: the data must be disconnected from personal identifiers, as player behaviour is rather sensitive info.
โ Data accuracy: How often does the gamer's profile change? I have no research on the matter, so data might not be as useful as I think.
โ Adaptability: There are a lot of game categories: shooters, RTS, Roleplay, RPG. All have different strategies. How do you create an analytics tool for such a diverse range?
What would you do differently to get this startup off the ground? Do you think this would work? Let's talk in the comments ๐ค
