Founder's Compass: Week 12
Hello there and welcome to Founder's Compass, a good way to get oriented around the labyrinthian world of startups.
Tool of the week
You're building an app, but now you have to show it off. Mockups are your go to, but they all look the same. Rotato helps with showcasing your design:

Startup Idea of the week
Docsend for Artists ๐จ๐ค
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ๐บ:
To get intros and opportunities, Artists need to share their content and portofolio. It's not rare for the receiver to then dissapear and take the content with them, building derrivative art out of it. Add to that all the ghosting happening in the industry and lack of transparency on use and you have the perfect "soup" for artists to be abused financially.
๐ง๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ด๐ฒ๐:
Up-and-coming artists (bands, photographers, designers etc.)
๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป:
A cloud-based platform where they can safely upload their creative content in any format (3D models, photos, audio files and others) and share it with their target customers. The artists would then get analytics on the view process, how much time was spent listening/viewing the art piece. This could also integrate an anti-AI filter that protects the artists work from ML and ChatGPT-style algorithms.
๐๐ฒ๐ป๐ฒ๐ณ๐ถ๐๐:
โ Better protection of IP for artists while keeping the shareability and discoverability at an acceptable level.
โ Control of the asset stays in the hand of the creator.
โ Insights into how their art is consumed, what people are looking at.
๐๐ต๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐:
โ Adoption-rate: Artist communities are notorious for low adoption of new tech tools.
โ Business model: Who will pay for the platform? Artists might see it as too big of a price, companies too low. Maybe monetize access itself? To research.
โ Usability/simplicity: Unless made extremely simple, this wouldn't work. The majority of artists are not tech-savvy (except those who work with tech in their art).
What would you do differently to get this startup off the ground? Do you think this would work? Let's talk in the comments ๐ค
